The Senior Food Program is a USDA program which works to improve the health of income eligible seniors 60 years of age and older by supplementing their diets with nutritious foods.  

The Food Bank packs and distributes 30-pound food boxes at 45 locations throughout San Diego County. Boxes contain canned and packaged food including vegetables, fruit juice, pasta, milk, cereal, canned meat, and non-meat protein.  

To be eligible, applicants must be at least 60-years-old, a resident of San Diego County, and meet the federal income guidelines. Eligible applicants must apply in person at a distribution site near his or her residence.  

What you need to apply: • Proof of identification.• Proof of income (Social Security Retirement, Disability, Employment Pension, Veterans Benefits Pay, SSI, Bank Statement, etc.)• Proof of address.

The College Avenue Center, a JFS Aging & Wellness Program for active older adults 60+.

Our Unique center is an active adult social and wellness center conveniently located in San Diego near Interstate 8 in Del Cerro. We have something for everyone, including a variety of events and programs to appeal to the heart, body, and soul such as computer classes, yoga, movies, painting, current events discussions and much more.

Daily Lunches are available. With two hot entrée choices like Brisket or Baked Fish, vegetarian options, and our popular soup & salad bar, we have a delicious meal for everyone! Join us for lunch and stay for afternoon entertainment and making new friends.

A hot meal is served at 12 p.m. and a soup and salad bar is available starting at 11:30 a.m. No reservations required. Suggested Donation of $4 for older adults age 60+; $7 for all others.
