Navy Veteran Receives Community Heroes Award for Volunteer Work

Together with Frank Motors Group, 101.5 KGB is proud to announce our second Community Heroes recipient, Emmanuel "Manny" Cabildo. Manny has made helping others a way of life, first in the military and now for his community.

Manny Cabildo served over 25 years in the U.S. Navy on 5 different naval warship during the Vietnam conflict. Although retired and in his late 80’s, Manny hasn’t stopped working to help his country and community.

  • Since 1983 Many has been a volunteer for the Fleet Reserve Association and coordinates all of their annual essay contests for kids in grades 7 – 12. He is also on supervising committees for Hospital and Welfare, Youth Activities and Public Relations.
  • Manny and his wife volunteer for the Food Bank Program at South Bay Community Church where they help prepare and distribute food donations to seniors, the handicapped and a local orphanage.
  • For the Council of Filipino American Organization, Manny initiated and supervises the IRS VITA program which helps process and file tax returns for low income families.

We're grateful to Manny for using his time and talents to make San Diego a better place to live, and for being a great role model to future generations.
