It's Paws & Pints this Thursday (6/7)

La Jolla Veterinary Hospital is not only a very proud member of the La Jolla Community but also a very proud member of the animal welfare community in La Jolla, San Diego County and all of our surrounding communities. We are dedicated to helping animals become pets, improve the lives of animals that have yet to become someone’s family member and assist in keeping beloved furry family members in the home where they belong. Some of these animals dwell in local shelters, foster homes and unfortunately on the streets of San Diego County and counties beyond our city limits. All of our staff members work at La Jolla Veterinary Hospital because we share a passion for helping the helpless, caring for those who cannot express their pain or discomfort and loving the pets that so many people call their own. In 2014 we decided that the time had come to contribute more than we ever had to the pets that are not patients of ours and are not owned by our clients. It is time for us to step up to the plate and do what we can for the animal welfare community as a whole.  As a veterinary hospital and a member of our community, it is our responsibility to lead the way and to facilitate ways for our neighbors to better the lives of homeless animals and animals in need here in our community and beyond our borders.

Now, in 2018 we are hosting our 5th annual fundraiser at The Lot in La Jolla in which 100% of the proceeds are given to The FOCAS Program and The FACE Foundation. We will be fundraising through both silent and live auctions at the event, our famous raffle and a wine grab. The auction items are all donated by local businesses in our community. There will also be a raffle with featured items such as San Diego Padres tickets and many other fun items donated by friends of all of our partners.

F.O.C.A.S. stands for “Friends of County Animal Shelters” and was started in La Jolla by local La Jolla residents Peggy Howell and Sue Geller in 1982. The program is now managed by Rancho Coastal Humane Society. Every year, the proceeds from the event are donated to FOCAS and FACE in honor of Peggy Howell, who passed away in 2013. This event was founded on a promise to Peggy to keep FOCAS in La Jolla.

The FACE Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial assistance for San Diego animal owners who are unable to afford the cost of their pet’s emergency, life-saving veterinary care. They aim to prevent economic pet euthanasia in San Diego County and La Jolla Veterinary Hospital whole-heartedly supports and recognizes the extraordinary efforts of this organization!

Please join La Jolla Veterinary Hospital in making a HUGE impact on the animal-welfare community right here in our village!
