Sharks are misunderstood apex animals that play a vital role in our ecosystem. Sharks serve as a direct indicator for ocean health. They remove the dead and sick, as well as keep a healthy balance that ensures species diversity. Sadly, over 100 million sharks are killed each year (many for merely a bowl of "magic"soup). Let's turn the tides through science and public perception/awareness and save these majestic creatures! Your contribution puts actual boots (flip-flops) on the ground in Indonesia to do shark tagging and DNA research as well as education to locals on the worth of sharks (monetarily they are worth MUCH more alive than dead). Our very own Downtown Karl Strauss bartender, Sam Fletcher, will be embarking on an 8 week internship with the Gili Shark Conservation Team this summer! Feel free to go pick Fletcher's brain on the details of the project at the event! Thank you all so much for your support and hope you have the best time!
