The Giant Dipper roller coaster at Belmont Park was closed to the public in mid-March when stay-at-home orders were announced because of coronavirus.
But the historic roller coaster couldn’t just shut down. The 95-year-old roller coaster must be operated multiple times a day to keep its machinery from tightening up from lack of use. The operators decided to strap in some riders who are immune to COVID-19.
