Join us at the Pacific Fisheries Management Council meeting on Thursday, June 20th at 9:00am in San Diego to voice opposition to the authorization of longlines by California permitted commercial fishing boats! The commercial fishing practice known as longlines results in a high rate of bycatch, hurting many species of marine wildlife including: marlin, billfish, tunas, mako sharks, thresher sharks, as well as turles, whales, dolphins, sea birds, and many others. Your presence at the Council meeting will have a huge impact on whether this destructive fishing practice becomes authorized by California boats and we need to rally support to stop this gear from becoming authorized. There will be an opportunity to adress the council directly on the issue at public comment, or simply attend with fellow recreational sportfishermen to show your support in protecting our precious natural resources. Let's all work to help rid this harmeful gear once and for all!
