If you're in need of a sweet treat that won't pack on the calories, Cookie is your solution!
This special girl is looking for extra special humans to call her own. At 6 yrs old, sweet Cookie was surrendered by owners because they said she didn't get along with their new puppy. She had quite a beginning with us once rescued. We noticed right away she needed immediate vet care; she panted and whimpered as she urinated blood. We scheduled emergency surgery for two extra (extra) large bladder stones that must have been causing her an incredible amount of pain for a very long time. We got her all fixed up both physically and mentally with vet care, a dental and more love than she probably had ever received! Her foster family absolutely adores her. Cookie, a Shih Tzu mix weighing in at 16 lbs is a mellow, sweet girl who would love to spend her time with an extra loving, cuddly human to spoil her and be her BFF. Her foster mom reports she has gotten along fine with dogs she's met thus far, but doesn't really play or engage with fellow canines. She's more of a people-dog and thrives on couch time with belly rubs. Cookie is potty trained and crate trained (although she has been trusted outside the crate as well with perfect house behavior). She enjoys short bursts of zoomies around the yard and occasionally likes to destroy a good soft toy! Cookie needs a family that is dedicated to her future health. With potential to develop bladder stones again, Cookie will need to remain on a high quality canned food and have a urinalysis done every 6-12 months for the rest of her life. We never want to risk her comfort or health again! Cookie’s small health commitment shouldn’t be a problem though, as she will repay you with continuous thanks from those sweet, big brown eyes and be your loyal friend for years to come.
