Porcupine Fends Off Seven Hungry Lions

This crafty porcupine confirmed that it was one prickly individual by maintaining a pride of lions in control utilizing solely his spines.

Showing it isn’t always the scale of the dog in the battle, the cornered target keeps its back to many famished would-be predators. Observed by Hennie Bekker in Kruger National Park, South Africa, on January 14, the lions circled the cornered porcupine in a horse shoe formation. Regardless of several tries to get closer to their possible food, the large felines are stopped at every turn by the sharp spines in their faces.

So, that's what those prickly things are for!
