SDS Events Announces The Nominees and Performers for 2018 San Diego Music Awards
SDS Events is proud to announce the nominees and performers for the 27th annual San Diego Music Awards, presented by Harrah's Resort Southern California, Taylor Guitars and Karl Strauss Brewing Company. The annual awards gala returns on the evening of Monday, March 19th at 7 pm, in the music hall at House of Blues San Diego, located at 1055 5th Avenue, downtown. The awards gala recognizes the diverse achievements of the talented San Diego music community, with proceeds from the event donated to fund the San Diego Music Foundation’s Taylor Guitars for Schools program.
Since 1991, the San Diego Music Awards has presented awards to artists and for albums of exceptionalmerit in 20 categories. Nominees (complete list below) are determined in advance by the San Diego MusicAcademy, which is includes members of the San Diego music community, music media, talent buyers andmore. Voting for nominees in each of the genre categories is open to the public between January 28 andFebruary 23, 2018, via the official event website at www.sandiegomusicawards.com. Each of the albumcategories is voted on only by members of the San Diego Music Academy.
The 27th edition of the San Diego Music Awards will feature performances from P.O.D., Trouble in theWind, Whitney Shay, Berkley Hart, Surefire Soul Ensemble and Parker Meridian.
Proceeds help to keep participatory music programs in local elementary and middle schools) through the Taylor Guitars for Schools programs, which have putt instruments into the hands of over 55,000 students county-wide from San Ysidro to San Onofre.. The San Diego Music Foundation's mission is to enrich San Diego’s diverse and creative music community through music education for youth, professional development for current and emerging industry professionals, live performances for the San Diego public, and recognition for San Diego artists of exceptional merit or service. The organization also provides forums to increase local musicians’ understanding of the music business, garner performance exposure within the local and national music communities, and to publicly recognize the breadth and diversity of the San Diego music scene.
