My name is Pookie but, the volunteers like to call me Apache.
They say I look strong and handsome like a warrior and Apache suits my personality. I don't care what they call me as long as I get back rubs and love. Just like Pookie is a unique name, my breed is unique. I am a Mexican hairless Labrador mix. I came to Wagging Tail's in February weighing 53 pounds and was taken directly to the veterinarian for a full exam and x-rays. I was limping on a rear leg and had an open wound on my belly. I have taken all my antibiotics and x-rays have shown nothing is wrong with my leg. As of March I have a clean bill of health. I am neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and am now ready to find my forever home. The veterinarian says I am about one year old.
While I have been staying in a foster home, I have lived with large and small dogs, old and young dogs and get along great with them all. I love running around with a toy in my mouth playing keep-a-way with the youngsters because I'm an easing going fun pup who enjoys an active home and down time. I take treats very gently from people, big and small and am patiently waiting to be a great family dog.
You should know since I am a Mexican hairless, I only have patches of hair on my head, tail and legs and that means I will need a little extra care of my skin, like lotion and sunscreen to keep my skin protected and soft, just like the family kids. Please contact Sandy at Wagging Tail Dog Rescue (858) 442-6585 if you would like to meet me.
