San Diego Lost A Great One.

Former Padres General Manager Kevin Towers has passed away at the age of 56 after a valiant battle with a rare form of thyroid cancer.

The beloved Towers spent 14 seasons as the Padres GM from 1995-2009. He got the team to 4 NL West Championships and steered the club to the '98 World Series with stars like Tony Gwynn, Ken Caminiti, Steve Finley, and other Padres greats.  After his time with the Padres, he was in the front office of the Arizona Diamondbacks until 2016.

Anyone who lived here in San Diego during the Tower years knows how magical and thrilling it was to be a Padres fan.  We lost a great guy today.

Rest easy Kevin Towers.
