The San Diego Padres beat the Chicago Cubs Wednesday night 4-1 to win the best-of-three Wild Card series and now advance to the next round of the MLB post-season playoffs.
They will play the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Divisional Series starting Saturday in Milwaukee.
In Wednesday night's game in front of a noisy and enthusiastic sell-out crowd of about 45,000, the Padres went ahead early 2-1 and then expanded their lead about halfway through the game when pinch hitter Gavin Sheets launched a home run way up into the right fieild seats at Petco Park.
