Vanna White Hosts 'Wheel Of Fortune' As Pat Sajak Has Emergency Surgery

Longtime Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak had to undergo emergency surgery for a blocked intestine earlier this week.

According to People, the 73-year-old host is expected to be fine. However, Thursday's (November 7) taping of the show was canceled.

“The Wheel of Fortune taping on Thursday was canceled because host Pat Sajak underwent successful emergency surgery to correct a blocked intestine,” the show, which is in its 37th season, posted to social media. “He is resting comfortably and looking forward to getting back to work. Taping resumed today as scheduled, and Vanna White has stepped in a host.”

Vanna hosted Friday's (November 8) taping, which airs on December 9. She was joined by Disney characters Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto.

As fans know, Pat has been hosting the game show, which is the longest-running syndicated game show in the U.S., since 1982. Vanna has also been a part of the show for nearly four decades, working alongside Pat as the hostess of Wheel of Fortune since the show's start.

Vanna recently told People that she and Pat had never had a fight in their 37 years of working together. “Well, once,” she admitted, referring to an argument over whether one should put ketchup on a hot dog. Pat, who is originally from Chicago, is against putting ketchup on any dog.
