On Friday, April 1, 2022 San Diego's 101.5 KGB FM celebrated its 50th Anniversary by reuniting decades of deejays and personalities and hundreds of listeners. The event took place in the station's parking lot with live music from The Sully Band, an appearance from the San Diego Chicken (formerly KGB Chicken), plus vintage cars and motorcycles from 1972, and the assembly of a "human" 50 and KGB sign.
The DSC Show's anniversary also falls on April 1st, with 2022 marking their 32nd anniversary. When they launched in San Diego on April 1, 1990, the show was called the Dawn Patrol. The DSC celebrated their 32nd Anniversary and KGB's 50th by inviting personalities from the station's into their studio to talk about the station's evolution over the past 50 years. Guests included Berger and Prescott, Coe Lewis, Ruth 66, Shotgun Tom Kelly, and Jim McInnes.
In honor of its 5 decades of broadcasting, the City of San Diego has declared April 1st to be 101.5 KGB Radio Day!
