WATCH Tornado Rips Through Southern California Buildings

The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes touched down during the storms in Southern California on Tuesday and Wednesday.

That includes the strongest tornado to impact the Los Angeles metro area in 40 years.

An EF1 tornado hit Montebello in Los Angeles County at 110 miles per hour late Wednesday morning, just below the level of an EF2, and it was the strongest tornado to hit the LA metro area since March 1983.

The tornado touched down for two to three minutes in an industrial area of Montebello, damaging 17 buildings, and injuring one person.

Damage teams also confirmed a water spout moved onshore as an EF0 tornado at 75 miles per hour in Santa Barbara County around 5:45 PM Tuesday.

It was on the ground near Carpenteria for one to two minutes, damaging 25 mobile homes in Sandpiper village.

Fox 11 has more on the tornado in Montebello.
