Local environmental nonprofit, H2O Trash Patrol, is hosting two 5K Beach Run Fundraisers on April 1, 2017 and May 13, 2017. Take a run on the beautiful sands of Encinitas beaches. Beginning at Hansen's Surf Shop, head north towards Moonlight Beach or South to Cardiff Reef and let the soothing salt air cool you as your run along the ebbing waves. A morning 5K on the beach makes for an invigorating start to your day.
For bonus good runners' karma, grab a reusable bag and gloves at the start line to clean up the course along the way. Prizes will be awarded to most trash picked up and the strangest finds! All monies raised during the Trash Dash will benefit H2O Trash Patrol to further their cleanup efforts and support their mission to reduce marine debris through active removal and awareness education.
Best known for their waterway cleanups, H2O Trash Patrol focuses on marine conservation and water stewardship through marine debris removal, prevention, and education. Every other Saturday, H2O hosts cleanup events at various locations along the coast. A group of volunteers will dedicate a few hours of their Saturday to going out on standup paddleboards (no experience necessary!) and skimming the waterway for trash and recyclables.
