Urban Street Angels helping homeless youth in San Diego

Hi KGBERS...you know doing Coe's List for so long, I get to learn about places and people doing AMAZING things right here in San Diego.  It's hard to think of something as powerful as youth and teen homelessness right here in our town.  It is a critical problem and these kids have endured the worst in life...they are scared, they are hungry, they are cold, they are sick, they are alone, and they are HOMELESS. This is unacceptable and YOU can be the change.  Learn about this terrific group on the ground helping our homeless young adults, teens and youth and how YOU can help change a live or lives!  www.URBANSTREETANGELS.org

Urban Street Angels – End Youth Homelessness

Urban Street Angels is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2012 to address homelessness in San Diego, California. The organization currently operates with three primary areas of focus. First, we provide basic human services (nourishing meals, bottles of water, hygiene supplies, clothing and footwear, etc.) each Friday evening for 50 - 75 homeless individuals in the Ocean Beach area. Second, we provide overnight shelter each Tuesday night for 20 - 25 homeless youth in the North Park area. And third, we provide transitional employment and supportive housing opportunities for homeless youth through our 8 West social enterprise start-up and housing program.

Our partnership with the County of San Diego HHSA / MHSA provides critical support in our operation of two independent-living group homes as the housing part of 8 West. Currently, 15 transition-age youth participate in the 8 West program, but our goal is to employ and house over 100 individuals by 2020. Beyond our valued relationship with the County of San Diego, all support for the organization stems from generous donors who support our mission to end youth homelessness with a #HandUp.
