This Week's Weird News

A potential photo of Bigfoot captured by a hunter's trail cam, a jaw-dropping image of a rectangular-shaped iceberg in Antarctica, and bizarre formations thought to possibly be UFO landing spots found in the snow by a man in Argentina were among the weird news items that popped up on our radar this past week.

Perhaps the most puzzling story of the week centered around a pair of odd formations found in the snow by a man in Argentina. The bewildering designs conjured comparisons to crop circles as one was spherical and the other had a rather intricate star-shaped pattern. While we're uncertain as to what may have created the formations, the witness who photographed the anomalies offered his own tantalizing possibility: UFOs.

The majesty of Mother Nature was on full display this week via a jaw-dropping NASA photo of a rectangular-shaped iceberg in Antarctica that went viral. Capturing the imagination of viewers online, the eyebrow-raising chunk of ice conjured speculation that it had some kind of otherworldly origin. Alas, the space agency was quick to explain that the iceberg was not the product of aliens and, instead, is a fairly standard type of formation known to scientists.

Meanwhile, a video out of Canada showed heavy winds whipping through a forest and creating an optical illusion where the ground appeared to breathe. And then there was a Hawaiian island that was literally wiped off the map after a powerful hurricane passed over it. Although researchers who had previously been studying the site had already considered the small spot of land to be endangered, even they were amazed when a drone video of the area after Hurricane Walaka struck revealed that the island was gone.

One of the more intriguing images we've seen in quite a while emerged this past week thanks to a hunter who spotted something odd in a photo captured by his trail cam. The image appears to show a tall, bipedal creature with glowing eyes lurking just a few feet away from the unknowing man. Observers online were quick to suggest that the anomaly bore a striking resemblance to Sasquatch, but that wasn't the only idea bandied about as others argued that it could be a ghost!
