Check Out What Mick Jagger Gave Little Tommy! Happy birthday Mick! Thanks for the gift!
It was backstage behind the dugout at Jack Murphy Stadium when something very cool happened. It was the night when the Rolling Stones played San Diego in the pouring rain. It was sometime in the 1990's. I was fortunate enough to get to meet Mick Jagger. We get escorted backstage which was actually behind the dugout on the first base line. There were about 10 of us and we get taken in to a dressing room. In the dressing room were all of Mick's shirts and hats. It was so cool. I was intoxicated but my heart was beating fast because I knew at any moment Mick Jagger would come in. He comes in. MICK JAGGER is right there. He greets everyone. I'm the last person he sees. He shakes my hand. He stares into my eyes and he immediately knows I've been partying. He starts smiling and laughing. I say to Mick, "Thank you for all your music and being the soundtrack to my life. I did my homework to your music and I went out running around listening to your music. I love you Mick!" Then I take off my jacket that I'm wearing that was a brand new Gibson Guitar Anniversary jacket and I give it to Mick. I tell him, it's the least I can do. He takes the jacket and wears it backstage. He wears it for the entire meet and greet. It's time for us to leave and we all get escorted out. Mick's manager shouts out, "Tommy!" I turn around and Mick throws me back my jacket. He signed it: Mick Jagger To Tommy. I got it framed and it's displayed inside my home. Happy birthday Mick! Thanks for the gift!
