It was a Monday night on December 8th, 1980. I was 16 years old. I remember watching Monday Night Football and walking in the hallway of my home in Chula Vista and hearing the words from Howard Cosell that John Lennon was shot and killed. I recall stopping in the hallway to take in what I just heard. At that time in my life, I was totally in to the Beatles just like millions of others, but to hear those words from Howard Cosell hit me so hard. I remember turning on KGB and the deejay on the air was emotional. I recall the next day on KGB radio there was a moment of silence on the air. John Lennon was just 40 years old.
