A man in San Diego County is accused of carjacking an SUV from a dealership employee while taking it for a test drive, reports City News Service (CNS).

According to San Diego Sheriff's Department spokesman Chris Lawrence, the incident occurred at 4:40 P.M. Wednesday, August 11, at the Norm Reeves Honda Superstore at 401 W. Vista Way.

The suspect took a white 2018 Audi SUV for a test drive and was accompanied by a female dealership employee.

Just a block away from the dealership, Lawrence said the suspect abruptly pulled into a church parking lot and demanded that the employee leave the vehicle.

According to CNS, she was not injured nor were any threats of violence made against her.

Because the suspect used "either force or fear" to steal the vehicle, Lawrence said the crime is still being considered a carjacking.

The employee took the key fob with her but the suspect still managed to drive away with the vehicle.

The suspect is described as around 50 years old, wearing a black hat, white shirt, and jeans. Anyone with information is urged to call the sheriff's Department at 858-565-5200.
