One California city is experiencing a boom in population growth. So much so that it's considered one of the top 10 fastest-growing cities in the U.S.
The U.S. Census Bureau revealed that the city of Irvine, California is among the fastest-growing cities from 2010 to 2020.
Irvine's population growth increased by 45% between 2010 and 2020 making it the city with the largest growth in California. The population went from 212,375 in 2010 to 307,670 in 2020.
"All 10 of the fastest-growing cities grew by at least 44 percent," the bureau wrote on Twitter. "The fastest-growing one, Buckeye, Arizona, a western suburb of Phoenix, was up nearly 80 percent this decade to reach over 91,000 in population."
Other Western cities that appeared on the list were Goodyear, Arizona, Meridian, Idaho, South Jordan, Utah, and Kent, Seattle.
Four of the cities in the top 10 were cities or suburbs in Texas including Frisco, McKinney, Conroe, and New Braunfels.
The U.S Census Bureau released the new data from the 2020 Census and it will be used by states across the country as they redraw their congressional maps.
