After years of audits and problems, SANDAG has decided to outsource its toll collections.
The new contract is with two Orange County Transit agencies, reports the Union-Tribune.They will handle the tolled section of the 125 in the South Bay and toll lanes on the 15 in the North County.
The move is expected to save the agency more than 2 million dollars annually. SANDAG was expected to pay around 34-million dollars to build out its own billing system. However, by contracting out, it will pay only 16 million dollars upfront for implementation costs.
