California Woman Drags A Dog Behind An Electric Scooter

Police are investigating an incident that was posted on Facebook: Surveillance video captured a woman riding on an electric scooter in Downtown Bakersfield, California dragging a small dog.

Bystanders took photos of the woman smiling and holding the dog with bloody paws. When confronted about it, the woman became defensive and showed no remorse.

Wow. That's horrible! Poor dog. :( Let's hope they catch the woman!

UPDATE: The woman's attorney released a statement:

"We have been 100% cooperative with the Bakersfield Police Department and their investigation. My client loves animals, especially Zebra, the dog who was shown in the video. We are confident that once law enforcement has concluded their investigation that this will be ruled an isolated incident. The dog is doing great and expected to have a full and short recovery."

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the woman did not own the dog. The dog has since been returned to its owner and also received medical care.

The names of the involved parties are being withheld as this is an ongoing criminal investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
