Today we recognize one of the world's most versatile cakes, celebrated by bakers and cake lovers alike. A traditional pound cake, calls for a pound each of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar, hence the name.
In the U.S. sour cream pound cake is popular, along with the traditional pound cake recipe, including vanilla, almond flavoring, and dried fruits.
