In what experts say is a new world record, professional surfer Makua Rothman amazed beachgoers in Maui over the weekend when he successfully rode a monster wave estimated to be 100 feet tall.
The ride occurred Saturday in an area of Pe'ahi, Maui known to surfers as "Jaws." Surf industry officials say the feat easily tops the previous record, which was also set by Rothman when he road a 66-foot wave.
After coming to shore, an excited Rothman said, "I'm so stoked on this ride and everyone who made that day possible!"
