Texas Mom Charged after Bullet meant for Dog hits 5-year-old Son

A Houston woman has been charged with deadly conduct after she tried to shoot a dog -- but instead struck her 5-year-old son.

The incident happened over the weekend when 24-year-old Angelia Mia Vargas apparently became annoyed with a loose dog she saw crossing the street, police say. So she pulled out her small caliber pistol and fired three shots -- none of which hit the dog. Unfortunately, one hit her son in the abdomen, says Detective J. Hasley. The boy's in the hospital in stable condition, Hasley says.

The owner of the dog was issued a ticket for letting his pet run loose, police say.
