A Thailand woman who heard strange noises coming from her kitchen over the weekend was shocked to find an elephant in the room.
But not a whole elephant, according to local media reports. The pachyderm had forced its head through the kitchen wall and was digging through draws with its trunk, authorities say.
Apparently, that sort of thing happens all the time. The village, Chalermkiatpattana, is located near an elephant sanctuary – and the elephants visit often, says the sanctuary’s superintendent, Itthipon Thaimonkol. “They come to visit quite often,” he says. “They always come when there is the local market because they can smell food.”
