A police officer in a small New York town has helped a raccoon see the light after it got its head lodged in a can.
The animal apparently got into its predicament early Thursday, after which a resident reported seeing the panicked creature hopelessly flailing about in her backyard, according to the Ramapo Police Department. Although an officer was sent out to help the raccoon, it clearly wanted nothing to do with the much larger human being; video taken by the resident shows the animal lead the officer on a brief chase through the yard.
Eventually, the cop managed to grab the raccoon by its tail and pull the can off its head, the video reveals. He then brought it into the woods and released it, a department rep says.
