A super rare Blue Lobster was recently caught in Maine but instead of heading to a dinner plate, “Lucky Bluey,” as he’s been dubbed, is being kept in a tank at Becky’s Dinner in Portland which is owned by the family who caught him.
The odds of catching a blue lobster are 1 in 2 million, and the blue hue stems from a genetic defect that causes the animal to produce excessive amounts of a particular protein. And there is a happy ending for Lucky Bluey as he will only stay in the tank for about a week and then he’ll be released back into the wild.
