A few months back we had talked about how Tom Cruise wants to be the first person to shoot a movie in space. Well unfortunately, that is no longer possible. The Russians beat him to it. They just released the trailer below for "The Challenge" . . . a movie they made on the International Space Station in 2021.
It's about a surgeon who has to perform heart surgery on a cosmonaut in orbit, because he can't return to Earth for treatment. The surgeon is played by a Russian actress, but her patient is an actual Russian cosmonaut.
The actress and her director underwent rigorous training before blasting off. It took them about 12 days to shoot, and they wrapped just a few months before Russia invaded Ukraine. I watched the entire 3 min trailer in Russian, couldn’t understand one word, looked intense and looked really good!
It's due out in April.
