Democrat Rep. Mike Levin Declares Victory in 49th District

Democratic Congressman Mike Levin has claimed victory in the election.

It comes after the official Associated Press election vote count showed him winning after a very tight race against Republican Matt Gunderson in the 49th District which includes the North County and parts of Orange County. In the earliest returns on election night, Levin trailed Gunderson by a razor-thin margin, but his lead steadily dropped.

Levin released a statement claiming victory. He called the contest “a hard fought, competitive race.”
