Search Underway for Suspect in Killing of Cal Fire Captain

The San Diego County Sheriff's Office are searching for the suspect who they say stabbed and killed a Cal Fire captain at her home in Ramona Monday night, February 17th.

The suspect is identified as 53-year-old Yolanda Marodi, also known as Yolanda Olejniczak, in connection with the killing of Rebecca Marodi.

Authorities say she is the wife of the victim. The Sheriff’s office also confirmed that Yolanda had been convicted of voluntary manslaughter and other charges in 2000 in Riverside County.

She was sentenced to over 13 years in prison and was released on parole in 2013, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. She was discharged from parole in 2015.

Captain Marodi worked for Cal Fire for more than 30 years, with most of her time spent in Riverside County. She also worked in San Bernardino and San Diego counties as she rose to the rank of captain.

On Monday, Feb. 17, deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at a home in the 20200 block of Rancho Villa Road around 9 p.m. First responders found Rebecca Marodi inside the house with multiple stab wounds, and despite their lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene/.
