DSC 2.21 - Towel Ass Woopin, Steve Poltz & Emily Shoop, Jussie Smollett

The DSC Show for Thursday 2/21/19: Towel Ass Woopin, Steve Poltz & Emily Shoop, Jussie Smollett and more!

Listen to the podcast below.

Here are some of the things we learned today on The DSC Show on KGB.

We started the show today with the infamous Dimitri. He's so beloved, he's become one of the most well known and popular puppets. If you're not familiar with him, please listen to today's podcast at the very beginning of our show today. Dimitri. He’s quite a catch. He'll tell you that himself. There's nothing wrong with him.

Dave’s working on a game for us called "One and Done" on songs that are one hit wonders. He was trying it out on his wife, Nicole and she suggested Toto. Outrageous! So not true!

Dave reminded us of the time many years ago, when the great Grace Slick was on our show and took one look at Chris Boyer in his giant, ugly, wireless, headphones and said, “Nice hat.”

How often do men change their bed sheets? A new study says about every eleven days - even if they have sex. What about Boyer? We decided he only changes them every two months. He says every ten days. We never believe him.

And that discussion inspired Dave's New Band name: “Layin’ Down Peter Tracks Along the Poontang Railroad.”

Hall of Fame listener Omar wrote to us at DSC@101kgb.com. He heard our new game, "You Bet Your Ass" and offered to buy us a taser or a snapping turtle or even a Mexican Mom’s flip flop as our next spanking tool! Other listener’s suggested a switch from the tree, Dad’s belt, backing up to a goose or a lobster. We'd love to hear your suggestions as well, so please drop Dave a line.

And Omar's email inspired Dave's second new band name today, “Turtles with Tasers.”

The great Steve Poltz is celebrating the tenth anniversary of his 50th birthday at The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, Saturday night. He stopped by today to sing and hang out with us for an hour. You can see the pics and video of that visit here. Listeners voted him as their all-time favorite guest of The DSC Show!

We also played a round of our new spanking game,"You Bet Your Ass" and you can watch the spanking video and see the pics here.

The bass player for popular band, The Monkees, Peter Tork died today at age 77.

He was the oldest member of the band. Many of us grew up watching him on that fun TV show of the same name. The band was formed solely for the purpose of the TV show and succeed beyond all expectations. They became so popular, people wanted to see them in concert. They had four number one albums.

My sisters and I bought ALL of their records and watched faithfully. My youngest sister and I worshipped Davy Jones, while my middle sister happened to love the goofy, blonde, Peter Tork the most.

Tork's people aren't saying what the cause of death was, but he was diagnosed with a rare form of tongue cancer ten years ago. He's had an active musical life since then, participating in Monkees reunion shows as recently as 2016, and recording his own solo blues albums, the last of which, “Relax Your Mind,” came out in early 2018.

You can read all about The Monkees and Peter Tork here. Their hit song, "I'm a Believer" is also posted there. Check out the extended show opening and their hit song in the video below, "Hey, Hey, We're The Monkees."
