OB is a 6 1/2 year old retired greyhound residing at the Greyhound Adoption Center in El Cajon. OB, short for Ocean Beach, is one of several greyhounds that arrived on August 5, 2017, and given a "Beaches" theme for their names! Generally speaking, mandatory retirement age at the racetrack is five years; however, this boy, who registered a whopping 334 races, raced well beyond that number, finally retiring at six years, three months. Given the length of time he spent at the track, OB came to us in relatively good shape. He lost a few teeth during his recent dental but has recovered nicely and is ready for his new life as a retiree with his very own family. OB cannot live in a home with cats or small dogs, but he is exceptionally patient with children and would enjoy a busy home with respectful children of all ages. The adoption fee is $295.00.
All dogs from the Greyhound Adoption Center have a complete medical evaluation, are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and undergo a thorough dental cleaning. They are then fully evaluated for temperament and personality as well as tested with cats, small dogs, and young children before being profiled for a home.
The Greyhound Adoption Center hosts and Open House and tour of their facility every third Sunday of the month from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. This is a great opportunity to learn more about greyhound rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and volunteer opportunities. The address is 4821 Dehesa Road in El Cajon.
